Cat netting is a knotted polyethylene mesh designed to safely contain cats outdoors while letting them experience fresh air, sunshine, and the smells of the garden. Unlike garden netting or bird netting, cat-proof netting uses a ¾" mesh size and a UV-rated construction. Small enough that paws can't get caught, strong enough to take a determined leap.
The vast majority of US cat owners use cat netting for three setups: enclosing an apartment balcony, covering a back patio or deck, or topping a backyard fence so cats can't jump over. Same netting, different installs. Sold either by the foot (cut to your exact length) or in pre-cut rolls (ready for big projects).
Quality matters more than it looks. Cheap cat netting from competitors are usually woven nylon. It sags within months, frays on the cut edge, and degrades in direct sunlight. Catnetting USA's cat safety netting is pre-stretched knotted polyethylene, so it won't bag out under load, and it's UV-rated to retain 93% of its tensile strength after 10 years outdoors. Cut it to size with regular scissors; it won't fray.
Installation is DIY-friendly. Most balcony and window jobs are done in under an hour using our fastening clips and range of hardware. Larger backyard or fence-line installs combine the netting with our stainless steel wire system and edging rope. See the DIY hardware collection for the full kit.
Whether you're cat-proofing a city balcony, screening a patio for two cats, or building a full outdoor cat enclosure, the goal is the same: keep cats off the road, away from coyotes and predators, and out of trouble, while giving them the outdoor stimulation they thrive on.
